Self-Care Sunday: The One Appointment You Should Never Cancel

Godd3ss Aisha

True Story…

(Subliminal affirmations playing through my Bluetooth sleep mask.)

“I am healthy. I am abundant. I am right where I need to be.”

As I slowly opened my eyes, my first thought was…

“All praises to the Most High. Thank You for another Rising.” 💚

Then my mind started making its list.

“I need to wash my hair.”

“I’d love to soak in a hot bath.”

“It’s been a long week.”

Then another thought came…

Today is going to be about me.

All me.

All day.

So I turned to my boyfriend and said,

“Babe, I’m officially declaring Sundays my Self-Care Sundays.”

He looked at me and laughed.

“Now what kind of craziness are you talking about?” 😂

I smiled and said,

“I think everyone should take one day out of every seven and dedicate it to themselves.”

Not to work.

Not to errands.

Not to social media.

Not to everyone else’s needs.

Just…

You.

Maybe that means unplugging from the world for a while.

Maybe it’s meditation.

Reading.

Prayer.

Journaling.

Yoga.

A walk.

Or simply sitting quietly with your own thoughts.

For me?

I’m drawing a nice hot bath.

Adding Epsom salts.

Crushing fresh herbs and rose petals.

Lighting a few candles.

Putting on some smooth jazz or calming frequencies.

Maybe I’ll read.

Maybe I’ll journal.

Maybe I’ll stretch.

Maybe I’ll simply breathe.

The point isn’t what I do…

The point is that I’m intentionally resetting.

How Do You Reset?

Or…

Do you?

Some people hear “Self-Care Sunday” and immediately think,

“Who has time for that?”

My answer?

We make time for what we believe is important.

Think about it.

How many hours do we spend scrolling social media?

Watching television?

Binge-watching another series?

We often have the time.

We’ve just gotten used to giving it away.

Now, don’t get me wrong.

If watching your favorite show helps you unwind, that’s perfectly okay.

But ask yourself this:

How do you feel afterward?

Refreshed?

Recharged?

Peaceful?

Or simply distracted for a little while?

(Think back to my blog about stress, anger, and anxiety.)

Sometimes our minds need something deeper than distraction.

They need restoration.

Try Something Different

Step outside your comfort zone.

Open that book you’ve been meaning to read.

(Reading really is fundamental. 😊)

Take that long bath.

Add the Epsom salts.

Light a few candles.

Take slow, intentional breaths.

Sit in silence.

Reconnect…

Not with social media.

Not even with nature.

Reconnect with yourself.

Be fully present.

The past has already happened.

Tomorrow hasn’t arrived.

Right now…

Just be.

When you feel ready, then plan your week.

Prepare for Monday.

Organize your schedule.

But don’t let planning steal today’s peace.

And if you’re thinking,

“Aisha, I can’t dedicate an entire day.”

That’s okay.

Start with four hours.

Four uninterrupted hours dedicated to your mind, body, and soul.

Can you give yourself that?

It doesn’t have to be Sunday.

Choose whichever day works for your life.

Just choose you.

I’d love to hear what happens when you make yourself a priority.

If this message speaks to your heart, share it with someone you love and care about. They may need permission to slow down and care for themselves, too.

Peace, Love & Light. 💚🧘🏾‍♀️

Independence Begins Within: A July 4th Reflection on Freedom, Peace, and the Soul

Godd3ss Alicia

Today, we celebrate Independence Day.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of people envisioned something greater than themselves—a nation built on the ideals of liberty, courage, and the pursuit of a better future.

Whether you’re celebrating with family, watching fireworks, enjoying a cookout, or simply taking a moment for yourself, today offers us something else…

An opportunity to reflect.

Reflection is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.

We spend so much of our lives moving.

Working.

Planning.

Scrolling.

Worrying.

Reacting.

But how often do we stop long enough to ask ourselves…

“Am I truly free?”

Not politically.

Personally.

Are you free from anger that’s been weighing on your heart?

Are you free from comparing yourself to everyone you see on social media?

Are you free from needing approval from people who don’t truly know you?

Are you free from guilt over something you cannot change?

Are you free from the fear that’s been keeping you from becoming who you were created to be?

Sometimes the greatest independence we can experience isn’t celebrated with fireworks.

It’s celebrated in silence.

It’s the quiet moment when we forgive someone who never apologized.

It’s choosing peace over proving we’re right.

It’s letting go of yesterday so we can fully embrace today.

It’s deciding that our happiness is no longer dependent on someone else’s opinion.

Just as our nation has grown, struggled, learned, and evolved over the past 250 years, so have we.

Every scar tells a story.

Every setback teaches a lesson.

Every challenge offers an opportunity to grow stronger, wiser, and more compassionate.

Reflection doesn’t erase our past.

It helps us understand it.

It reminds us how far we’ve come and gently points us toward where we’re meant to go next.

Today, while the sky fills with brilliant colors, take a few moments to sit quietly.

Breathe deeply.

Listen to the wind.

Feel the warmth of the sun.

Offer gratitude for the freedoms you enjoy.

Then offer yourself another gift.

Ask yourself:

What am I ready to be free from?

Maybe it’s resentment.

Maybe it’s self-doubt.

Maybe it’s fear.

Maybe it’s the constant pressure to be perfect.

Whatever it is…

Today is a beautiful day to begin letting it go.

Freedom isn’t just something written in history books.

It’s something we choose, one decision at a time.

May this Independence Day remind you that the greatest journey you’ll ever take isn’t across a country…

It’s inward.

Toward peace.

Toward healing.

Toward becoming the most authentic version of yourself.

If this message touched your heart, please share it with someone you love and care about. Reflection has a way of healing not only ourselves but everyone whose lives we touch.

From all of us at A Godd3ss3s Cr3ation, we wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.

Happy 250th Birthday, America. 🇺🇸

Peace, Love & Light. 💚🧘🏾‍♀️
